Most people who have known me for a while know how much I love shooting fire. There is just something about it that just pushes a “coolness” button in me when it’s captured well. The way it looks like some flowing, turbulent liquid suspended in air.
Tough part is usually to get that look, you almost completely lose the performer. There’s also something about everything having an orange color-cast that bothers me. For a long time I’ve wanted to experiment with studio lighting techniques and fire. I’ve finally gotten that chance.
This was first attempt. It was interesting that I couldn’t find anyone else doing this. I’m having to make up the techniques. Learned a lot during this shoot. Did these come out as I wanted? No, it still isn’t what I see in my head but it is getting there and shows me that what I want to achieve is completely possible. Excited to continue experimenting ….
Had an old flash Thursday night that I wanted to try out and see how it responded to an event. I spent 30 minutes dialing it in and getting use to it inside the F-Stop only to find myself standing outside watching and shooting Pure Cirkus doing some fire performance (wow do I love fire). Anyway, here’s a few shots from that night.

Tiring work week, but finally getting back to working on photos.
OK … gonna do a couple of posts with a mish mash of images from Unwrapped to hold you guys over until I can process these in earnest. Have a bunch of studio stuff I need to go work on now.
This shot blew me away … I was trying to capture her blowing a little flame, but didn’t expect it to look this cool. The websized version doesn’t do it justice. God I love shooting fire performance:
Well, just spent about an hour trying to find the DVD with the shots from the Exotic Underground Bloodbash at Studio 7. Need to figure out what I did with it. Anyway, while I do, thought I’d just go ahead and process the few dozen shots I took at blackdove1978‘s party. Didn’t shoot a lot, so shouldn’t take me long.
Veronica Fire
A couple more … fyretr
I don’t know if you can see it in the web version, but I love how the satiny dress hugs her curves while the folds in the cloth pick up just a bit of the light.
Off to work …

Got a request in e-mail from someone asking if they could see a part of the last Veronica Fire shot at the original size. I figure, why not. Quality is less than original ’cause of jpeg compression, but this is a full-size crop right out of the image ….
Full Size Veronica Fire Crop – dialup peeples, this is kind of big (1280×853)

This is probably the last shot of Veronica you’ll see from this night until the gallery goes up.
Guys can probably see why I had such a great time working with her. Lots of fun.
